Born in Brooklyn, NY, Joan moved to Florida with her kids in 1974. She worked as a waitress, factory worker, cook, prep person, delivered newspapers, and had various other jobs before she deciding to go back to school and become a Secretary. Joan now works as an Administrative Secretary to an attorney for the State of Florida, Department of Revenue.
Joan joined Writer's Village University in March of 2002. She quickly volunteered to be a Site Guide and later to mentor in F2K. She developed a world building course which she facilitates and is the Group leader of the study group World of Magic and Mayhem.
When her friend, Margaret Carr, Editor in Chief of ePress-online asked for be readers at the newly formed e-publishing company, she quickly took her up on the offer. Joan soon became the Acquisitions Coordinator and the Non-fiction Editor for the small press. She later moved to her current position of Acquisitions/Personnel Director and Senior Fantasy Editor.
